What are tracking categories used for?

In Xero, you can set up tracking categories to see how different areas of your business are performing (such as departments, cost centres, or locations).

This is an example for what it can look like:

In ApprovalMax, you can use Xero tracking categories to split responsibilities between Approvers. To achieve this, use the approval matrix to assign certain tracking categories to particular Approvers.

            This is how it's done:
            1. Go to Organisation > Approval workflows > Define conditional Approvers

            2. Then assign a tracking category to each item during Purchase Order creation either in Xero...

            3. ...or assign a tracking category to each item during Purchase Order creation in ApprovalMax.

              In this example:

            4. Douglas is a member of the Manufacturing team and responsible for the decision-making in requests that contain items with the tracking category Manufacturing.
            5. Olivia is a member of the Service team and responsible for the decision-making in requests that contain items with the tracking category Service.

            6. If a request contains items with both tracking categories (Service and Manufacturing), both Approvers have to make an approval decision.
            7. If a request contains only items with the tracking category Manufacturing, only Douglas will have to approve.
            8. If a request contains only items with the tracking category Service, only Olivia will have to approve.
